Intercultural May is in full swing and Willow class have been learning all about Sweden!
We have investigated all about the country's history, geography, traditions and culture. Yesterday we skyped Victoria's mum in Stockholm! She brought us to a museum all about Swedish culture and we had a look around the surroundings of Stockholm from a lovely, sunny bridge. We've been hard at work putting our project together, making art and singing songs. Ask us all about the fun facts that we have learned, we'd all love to visit the country some day. We're so excited to perform songs from the Swedish band, Abba, next week too.

I can stand in the line by myself No-one needs to help me Doing it on your own, it's a good idea Everyday I dress by myself Persistence pays off Everynight I brush my teeth by myself Never give up Do it yourself Everyone deserves independence Nothing is too hard Today I will be independent Willow class have started learning about the Titanic for their Aistear work this month. They loved the story of this 'unsinkable' ship that hit an iceberg and sank in 1912. We examined some copies of some primary sources of newspaper articles, tickets, photographs, diaries, birth certificates and other information in groups. We love learning about real events in History!
We are super proud of Manaal for winning student of the week this week for being independent. Manaal has been lining up by herself, tying her shoelaces and getting organised for school all by herself. Well done Manaal, you're so independent and responsible!
Willow class are feeling super proud today! We won the tidiest class in the school for our efforts to tidy our class room for our annual Spring clean effort. We got such a lovely surprise when Helena called out our name. We made a huge effort to make sure our presses were tidy, that our floor was swept, our copies were tidies and our displays were looking straight and clear.
We have lots of fun and exciting things that we will be learning about in May! It will be Intercultural Month and we're exploring some really fun History and Science topics through Aistear too. Ask your child throughout the month what new things they have learned!
Huge congrats to Lola for winning of the student of week this week for being super persistent. Lola never gives up and always keeps going until she finds things easier.
