We would like to invite all families to attend our celebration of Peace Day 2017 with a performance in the Assembly Hall at 9am on Thursday 21st September. Classes have been preparing
A big thank you to all the boys and girls who made posters, wrote and presented their election speeches and all who voted. It was a tight race but there could only be two people chosen for each school committee. Congratulations to the following people in Willow class; Léo and Dilara (Forest School and Garden), Scott and Sofia (Student Council) and Rohan and TJ (Green Schools). We are sure that they will do fantastic job on each committee this year.
We had a fun assembly this morning talking about the All-Ireland final. The boys and girls in Willow class chose who they wanted to shout for. A lot of them chose Mayo, because their teacher, Róisín is from Mayo. We also sang some Dublin songs in the assembly and waved our flags proudly. We all can't wait to see who wins on Sunday. The game will be shown on television on RTE 2 at 4pm. Let the best team win!
Well done to Davi this week for winning student of the week. He won this for setting some really great goals for the school year ahead. Davi is wants to try his best this year and he’s already succeeding! We are all so proud of you.
This week Willow class have been creating lots; creative writing, creative portraits and creative election posters! We love to think imaginatively and create unique art, writing and posters that show the world who we are.
Tomorrow Willow class will be voting in their representatives for the student council, Forest school & garden committee and the green schools. They have been practising their speeches in class and are sounding fantastic! Thanks to all the families for helping them prepare.
Congratulations to TJ- Willow Class student of the week
Congratulation to TJ in Willow class for winning student of the week this week. He was given the award for being so kind and thoughtful towards his friends and teacher. TJ has been really helpful on the yard and in the classroom too. Well done on being so organised and kind TJ! We are all so proud of you.
The boys and girls of Willow class have been talking about all the parts of their bodies and how they work. We've also been trying hard to get lots of exercise this week and make sure we eat healthily. There is a new food pyramid that the class will be learning about next week that details the balance that they require to eat well.
Our after school clubs will starting up shortly too. We had a visit from Alannah from drama club who played some really fun games that the whole class had lots of fun with. Alannah will be starting drama club next week and a note went home to detail the cost. It will take place in the hall.
Willow class had a brillant time with the Heritage schools/Crann representative, Dale Treadwell, yesterday. We were discovering lots about Ireland's native and natural environment. We listened to a story about a hedgehog looking for a friend, played a game all about the sonar and we explored our garden and some bug traps for insects! This helped us to appreciate all that nature provides us and the clever ways in which nature and it's creatures grow and develop.
The boys and girls of Willow class settled into first class. We had lots of circle time, P.E. Maths, games and gardening. We came up with our class rules and talked about what we are looking forward to learning in 1st class. We had our first Golden Time too! Thanks to all our parents on helping us get ready for being back at school this week.
Welcome back to all the boys and girls returning to Powerstown ETNS tomorrow morning at 08:30am. My name is Róisín and I'll be the first class teacher in Willow Class. I'm really excited to meet all the boys and girls in my class tomorrow. It's going to be a super fun year filled with lots of learning, adventure and laughter. See you all in the morning!
