Thank you to all the boys and girls, parents, families and guardians that helped make this school year the best yet for all in Willow class. It was a fantastic school term filled with lots of hard work, fun memories and an abundance of smiles in our classroom. It was an honour to teach each and every one of the children in the class and I hope they all and you their families have a wonderful summer. I look forward to catching up with all the boys and girls again in August.
Powerstown was pleased to participate in the launch of the new Fingal Library Summer star Reading programme yesterday with their new library bus. The library is a great opportunity for you children to explore and improve their reading this summer!
Congrats to Sofia in Willow class for winning student of the week this week. Sofia was a model student in her participation of Active Week activities. Well done Sofia!
Willow class celebrated the return of the sun with an amble through the beautiful forest surrounding Tyrresltown House today. We're so lucky to have a forest next to our school, the clean air, the birds chirping and the leaves swaying filled our happy buckets right up to the top! Dale Treadwell was our guide, he's a nature specialist that knows everything there is to know about trees and wildlife. We searched for bugs in tree canopies, named the trees by use a leaf-key and listened to stories about hedgehogs and birds. We love sunny, nature-filled days!
Due to the weather conditions this morning the sports day has been postponed until next Tuesday, June 26th. Please ensure your child wears runners and comfortable clothes to move in. They will also need some extra water and/or snacks for the active day ahead. Please also ensure that they wear sunscreen and have a hat to shield them from the sun, it is due to be a sunny warm day.
It was such a fantastic day celebrating our Open Day last Friday. The boys and girls did super in their performances and An Taoiseach was very impressed with our school and all the children in it. A huge thank you to all our families for your support and help to make this a very special day for the school!
The department of Education made a special video celebrating our new grounds, check it out! https://twitter.com/merrionstreet/status/1007679556919222273?s=08 Willow class are very proud of their weather station. We have lots of weather instruments and a chalk board to record our observations on it. It's the perfect time of year to see what temperature it is, how much humidity there is and what direction the wind is blowing from.
We are loving our outdoor areas, we used our outdoor bean bags yesterday at our storytime area. Our student council helped raise funds for these on our last movie night. They're so comfy and squishy!
